STARTED
SMARTKAS was founded in 2020 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In just a year, we went from a small startup to a multi-country niche brand with offices and projects in the Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, the United Kingdom, Dubai, Brazil and plans for many more. The vision was clear: access to food and water must become a basic human right. Through all means necessary, we wanted to create food production facilities – greenhouses, indoor and outdoor farms -in a smart, sustainable and profitable way.

Beyond developing smart farms for clients under the mission of global food security, we also invested in building our own large-scale agricultural projects. To bring these to life, we partnered with turn-key system providers. However, the scale and complexity of these farms exceeded suppliers’ capabilities, resulting in project failures that led to significant setbacks. Despite these challenges, we remain committed to innovation, actively rebuilding and refining our approach to large-scale farming. Every lesson learned fuels our vision for more resilient, technology-driven agricultural solutions.
